About George

History

A West-Londoner, born and bred, George Muranyi developed an interest in the keyboard early. His schooling included piano competitions, several of which he won.

George went on to study jazz in 1989 at the Royal Academy of Music. In 1992 he shared the Benjamin Doniger jazz scholarship with a fellow student. He graduated in 1993, without Honors, but he did earn his LRAM.

Following his academic studies, George undertook a career in session work, playing for several leading names in the music industry, including Leo Green, Leen Conquest, and Davy Spiilane. He even had a brief dalliance with a pop career, joining the 90's band Out Of My Hair for a short time, but parted ways due to creative differences.

George once played with The Ronnie Scottʼs Allstars, has toured with Darren Hayes (ex Savage Garden singer-songwriter). He has also had the opportunity to share the stage with Sixto Rodriguez at the Barclays Center in NYC.

Today, George is content to dedicate his time to teaching, sharing his knowledge with young musicians at LCM and offering private one-to-one tuition. He has also been involved in various charitable endeavors, including serving as Junior Warden at Chelsea Lodge No. 3098 in 2017.
